In 2018, Bare Kind was founded by Lucy Jeffrey with the goal to offer products that people love while also making a positive impact on the world. Initially, they sold a range of items such as metal straws, t-shirts, and tote bags. Perhaps you've even spotted someone using them!
However, Bare Kind’s headline product soon became socks. While secondhand socks may not be a popular choice, there is a market for consciously-made, high-quality socks. What sets their socks apart is that 10% of the profits from each pair sold go towards animal conservation efforts. Each pair is associated with a charity partner that is dedicated to protecting and preserving the species featured on the socks.
BAMBOO BLISS
Bare Kind has a beautiful collection of soft and comfy bamboo crew socks, ribbed bamboo socks and bamboo trainer socks.
Bamboo fabric is butter soft on the skin and finer than Egyptian cotton! The strong, silky fibres are super durable. And the best bit? It gets softer and softer with every wash!
Bamboo fabric is antibacterial, keeping your feet fresh. Sensitive skin? The natural antimicrobial enzyme repels bacteria that cause irritation and unpleasant smells. Keep your feet nice and fresh!
A firm favourite for those who suffer from eczema and other allergies, Bamboo is naturally hypo-allergenic. The soft fabric gives them irritation-free feet so they can be their best in their life
The wonder plant is naturally moisture-wicking, keeping your feet dry and comfy all day long.
Bamboo is highly breathable and reacts intuitively to your body temperature. Keeping you cool and breezy on those hot summer nights and cosy as a koala during winter.
Wash your Bare Kind socks at a low temperature and they will dry quickly. No need for fabric softeners or irons…saving energy for you and our planet.
Bamboo is the most sustainable fabric choice for planet heroes. It requires a third as much water as cotton and grows up to 3ft a day! Bamboo absorbs harmful greenhouse gases and releases ‘good’ chemicals like o2, keeping the air we breathe cleaner.
SUPPORTING ETHICAL MANUFACTURING AND ENDANGERED ANIMALS
To ensure ethical production, their socks are made in a third-generation, family-run factory located in Istanbul. This factory has undergone BSCI and SEDEX audits, ensuring fair working conditions for all employees who are over 18 years old and receive fair wages.
By purchasing Bare Kind socks, you not only get a great product but also contribute to the conservation of endangered animals and support ethical manufacturing practices.
Since their humble beginnings, Bare Kind has experienced tremendous growth. Their team has expanded, and so has their product range. Bare Kind are now proud to be partnered with over 25 charities, with 10 of them based in the UK. Through collective efforts, they have been able to make a significant impact in saving dozens of animals from endangered species. This has included protecting over 1,200 acres of rainforest, planting more than 13 rugby pitches worth of wild flowers to support the bee population and releasing over 4,300 baby turtles on the beach in Sumatra.
Bare Kind is proud of the sense of community they have built through their socks. It is not just about the product; it is about the knowledge and awareness they get to share about animals and their conservation. Together, they are making a difference and creating a brighter future for endangered animals.
Here's to the ongoing mission of saving even more endangered animals with Bare Kind socks. Together, with new partners they can continue to raise awareness, support conservation efforts, and make a positive impact on the world.
Bare Kind are looking to partner with ethically minded retailers and those looking to expand into more conscious products.
