Motivated by her search for a cleaner fragrance and with an aspiration to build an entirely ethically minded business, Sarah Bell founded Evermore in 2014. With a desire to work creatively with her own two hands, Sarah took candle making up as a hobby. She was shocked by the raw materials used in many candle-making kits and it soon began to unfold that there was a market for an eco-conscience alternative. Late nights researching waxes, wicks and fragrance ratios followed, until eventually Sarah discovered the perfect blend of vegan wax and luxury scents that inhabit each Evermore candle today.

Creating a brand with an affinity to the natural world means investing in the planet and taking the necessary actions to leave as little impact on this Earth as possible. These concerns trickle down to the decisions we make on a daily basis – Evermore London believes that taking care of the environment is everyone’s responsibility, from their employees and stakeholders to their suppliers and customers.
EVERMORE RAW MATERIALS
Evermore London adds a percentage of essential oils to our fragrances to bring a touch of the natural world and aromatherapy to our scents. They only use essential oils that are sustainably farmed and never from endangered species. Their oils are IFRA approved, meaning they meet all safety and sustainability standards. They ensure that their factory is working to reduce emissions and waste alongside conserving water and energy.
Evermore London uses phthalate-free perfumes to bring a wider range of notes, it also allows us to ethically use the synthetic version of essential oils that are either endangered or banned. Synthetic shouldn’t be a dirty word when it comes to sustainability.
EVERMORE PACKAGING
Evermore promise to never use plastic in any of their packaging. Their boxes are 100% recyclable and FSC certified. When they rebranded the company in 2019, they made the conscious decision not to wrap their boxes in cellophane, unlike many other luxury brands.
Evermore glass is made from part-recycled glass and is 100% recyclable, they also encourage their customers to re-use their jars once the candle has finished burning.
Remaining true to their promise, they don’t use any plastic in their e-commerce parcels either: the box, packing and tissue are all recyclable and Evermore sticker labels are biodegradable.
EVERMORE ESSENTIAL OILS AND PERFUMES
Did you know, it takes 60 rose buds to produce a single drop of rose otto essential oil this is why natural isn't always sustainable. When experimenting with the blends that make-up the Evermore collection today, founder Sarah went back and forth between essential oils and man-made perfume oils. There is a lot of conflicting information when it comes to 'natural' candles and Evermore wants to ensure that their customers are educated on the finer details. It goes without saying that products made with essential oils are categorised as 'natural'. However, when it comes to candle-making, there are two factors that come into play - performance and sustainability.
NATURAL VS MAN-MADE
A little known fact about essential oils: when they're heated and reach their flash point, they can react in different ways. Some will evaporate and some will even lose their therapeutic benefits. This means that making candles with essential oils can be unreliable, with no guaranteed benefits when it comes to aromatherapy. Evermore stand by our mantra of 'natural isn't always sustainable'. The sheer volume of natural resources that's needed to create a single drop of absolute is counter intuitive. Many plants and flowers used to create essential oils have also become endangered, meaning the synthetic version - even when the energy used in production has been accounted for - is a much more sustainable option.
EVERMORE BLENDS
To harness the power of the natural world, Evermore works closely with their perfume house to formulate accords derived from the finest wildcrafted oils. They have developed a range of fragrances that blend essential oils with phthalate-free perfumes, specifically designed to use with candles. The result is nine beautifully crafted candles that ignite a feeling; a memory. A moment in time where one can rest safe in the knowledge that the candle has been crafted responsibly.
