Tasting Notes: This opulent Rhône-style blend is Syrah based with splashes of Mourvèdre, Cinsaut, Grenache, Pinotage and Viognier.The nose is generous with floral notes and aromas of pepper, meat, cranberry and mango. The tannins are tight but seamless, an exhilarating mouthful of exotic spice and freshly picked berries. The ultimate in Cape red blends and a true tribute to the legendary No 6s: Schalk Burgers Jnr & Snr.
Food Pairing: Classic rhone style blend obviously pairs with red meats but also your Christmas turkey. Will pair well with all the trimmings.
In creating the No.6 the aim was to make a wine that best expresses the quality and purity of the fruit that Welbedacht Wine Estate, its terrior and cellar has to offer. Small parcels from a variety of sites on the farm were hand selected and individually vinified in our cellar to allow the varietal characteristics of each cultivar to fully develop. After 18months maturation in 2nd fill French oak barrels the blend was assembled and returned to barrel for a further 9months to marry all flavours. The final blend consists of the following 6 varieties; Syrah Petit Verdot Malbec Mourvedre Pinotage and Viognier.
