Description

Floral & Fragrant

Tasting Notes: The Bacchus grape is to the UK what Sauvignon Blanc is to Marlborough. The wine has a delicate floral nose of honeysuckle, lilac and ripe orchard fruits yielding to a zesty citrus intensity on the palate and a stone fruit finish.

Food Pairing: Sample with spring vegetables like asparagus, peas and broad beans. Salads without heavy dressings, shellfish and poached or grilled salmon.

Winemaker:

Imagine the excitement when our PA extraordinaire, Michelle, introduced us to Susannah Ricci of Yotes Court, Kent, who represented a new sport and country, both of which we had been searching for to add to our Sporting Wine portfolio. Well, one tasting session later, and not only are we now proud sellers of award-winning Horse Racing wines, but ENGLISH ones at that, adding not just one new grape variety to our collection, but three! We are over the moon to stock two exquisite English whites and a stunning English pale rosé. We can predict that the wonderfully named On the Nod 2020 | BacchusHands and Heels 2020 | Pinot Blanc and Best Turned Out 2020 | Pinot Meunier will become part of our story just as much as our better-known grapes. We found a winning quality in all 3 and they will be consistent favourites regardless of conditions!

The wines are made in Mereworth, Kent, the rocky soils of the region proving ideal and described by Master of Wine, Stephen Skelton, as the Best site I have ever planted, and that’s from well over 100 sites in the UK.” Yotes Court is one of few producers to be accredited under the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain scheme

Sporting Connection:

Susannah Ricci has been involved in National Hunt Racing since 2005 with her husband Richard. The majority of her horses are trained by Champion Trainer Willie Mullins and have been ridden by Ruby Walsh, her famous green and pink silks driving the wine branding. Her horses have won all around the circuit, including famous names such as Annie Power, Chacun Pour Soi and Livelovelaugh – that last seems to sum up SWC rather well, if you add in the wine element!
