Description

9 Year Old Single Cask Limited Edition Whisky

The RugbyField concept was born when post game discussions between Scotsman Richie Gray (The Coach) and South African brothers Jannie and Bismark Du Plessis (The Players) had a dream to establish a vineyard the size of a rugby field complete with posts, and create an exclusive wine made only from the grapes from this vineyard.

This shared dream soon became a reality when Gray and the Du Plessis brothers visited Chateau de Valcombe in Générac, France where they and 10th generation winemakers, The Ricomes, created La Grande Mélée 2018 from an old Syrah block of vines from Valcombe.

Proud Scotsman Gray, then looked to add a unique single malt to the RugbyField range, and approached the Wills family of Kilchoman Distillery, Islay’s only Farm Distillery. Together they selected a 9-year-old single cask distilled from barley grown in Kilchoman’s Rugby Park field on the Island of Islay’s first rugby pitch.

The “RugbyField” – with its post at either end is a field of barley that has over 100 years of history, tradition and passion cultivated within it- Island folklore has it that is still the place where legendary players spirits of the past come to play.
